On the 4th of July the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra gives a special Introductory concert in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. The theme is 'playing together, working together, living together. This special event, a musical encounter between people of all ethnic backgrounds, is about getting to know others, sharing a special experience and discovering a sense of involvement and community. The very first Introductory Concert was organised in 2009 at the behest of Her Royal Highness Princess Máxima, the orchestra’s patroness.
Our orchestra is one of the very best orchestras in the world. Close collaboration and interaction are of vital importance to the orchestra, which is made up of 120 musicians representing over twenty nationalities and working together to produce music of the highest calibre. The concert is a real introductory concert, it's only one hour (no interval) and has a really nice programme (music by Saygun, Mendelssohn, Saint-Saëns and Prokofiev) . Afterwards, everyone is invited to enjoy drinks and nibbles, and meet the musicians, soloist and conductor, as well as other audience members, of course.
Tickets cost € 25 a piece and can be purchased via www.rcoamsterdam.com, by phone: 0900 671 83 45 (€ 1,- per call, Mon-Sun 10-17hrs).
